Covid 19 – Special Thanks to Everyone
Special thanks to everyone in Ardara and in the wider community for their wonderful efforts in restricting the Covid-19 Virus in our community. It was obvious at all times that our community respected the regulations as laid down by the government, thanks to a good community spirit.
In the earlier part of the pandemic there were concerns about people coming into the community, especially from Northern Ireland. At that stage proper controls were not in place in the North, but with great credit to the Northern Ireland authorities they got their act together and really got on top of the virus and now have results as good as the Republic.
Now in Ardara especially, we gladly welcome our friends from N. Ireland as their contribution to our economy is immense.
However, we would caution people coming from outside the island of Ireland that they must quarantine for the two week period as required by our government, and concern has been expressed that this regulation is not being complied with by people coming here from other countries. Please respect our efforts in controlling this terrible virus.
Also, we must congratulate the GAA Club and the coordinator; John McConnell, Stephen Shaw and Daniel Moy for a wonderful community spirit and ensuring all the community had food supplies during the lockdown. Well done to all the volunteers who delivered the groceries and medicines which was much appreciated by all.
Wild Atlantic Festival
The Wild Atlantic Festival takes place from 1st to 8th August. We will comply with government regulations at all times.
The main events include limited numbers on walks and open air music on the Diamond. Highlights will be the visit of the Wild Atlantic Women to the Diamond on Thursday night and live music by Hard 2 Beat on Saturday night.
We have many visitors from all over Ireland visiting Ardara now and we want people to know that Ardara is always welcoming and we provide music and entertainment where we can to show that appreciation.

Sympathies
We sympathise with the families and friends of Bernard Maguire, who passed away recently and was a great local popular character.
Josie Gallagher, Crucknagapple, who died recently. Josie was one of the outstanding gaelic footballers of his time.
We sympathise with the families and friends of Pat Eamon Boyle of Glenties. Pat coped with his sickness with great dignity until his death last Thursday. Another outstanding GAA man and played with Josie Gallagher in many teams of the past.
We sympathise with the family and friends of Conal Watters of Tullycleave who died on Sunday morning. A wonderful community person and friend to all. Conal will be sadly missed.
Covid 19: HSE Updates
COVID Tracker App
The COVID Tracker App has been downloaded over 1.2 million times to date and is continuing to increase daily. Your support has contributed to this success and we would be grateful for your continued assistance.
We would also ask if you have anyone in your own circle who might like to use it and needs some support in downloading it that you would share your experience with them and help them to do it. The app helps to speed up the existing contact tracing system and get the right advice to the people who need it.

Face Coverings on Public Transport
Face coverings help prevent people who don’t know they have the virus from spreading it to others. They should be worn anywhere it’s difficult to stay 2m apart, like shops or public transport, or when visiting anyone who’s more at risk.
Since Monday 13th July, face coverings are mandatory on public transport.

New Resource Launched for Former Family Carers
A new booklet from Care Alliance Ireland, The Way Ahead, aims to support former carers as they enter a new phase in their lives. The booklet outlines options for returning to paid work, volunteering or further education, as well as online supports and counselling services. The booklet is available free of charge to organisations and to former family carers. You can download it at www.carealliance.ie and you can request hard copies by email to info@carealliance.ie
