Doon Fort to feature on More 4 TV channel
Ardal O’Hanlon came to Donegal earlier this summer and amongst the places he visited for his three part series called ‘Ireland with Ardal O’Hanlon’ was the hidden island fortress of Doon Port, near Portnoo, Co. Donegal. This amazing monument was selected as one of the first five monuments national on the Heritage Council’s first ever ‘Adopt a Monument’ scheme. The Ardara GAP Heritage and History Group are working closely with project managers ‘Abarta Heritage’ and the Heritage Council to protect, preserve and research the story of Doon Fort and the surrounding cultural landscape for future generations. They are also working with the landowners to ensure access to the monument is maintained and improved so that visitors can have an enjoyable experience while protecting the integrity and uniqueness on this wonderful site.
