Matchmaking Weekend:  Again this year huge crowds descended in Ardara for this ever popular festival.  The matchmaker supreme Willie Daly was in town.  Indeed, Willie arrived in town in the company of a Cavan Couple he matched sometime ago.  Top Country Star Jimmy Buckley was in town on Friday night and there was great music in most venues in town.  From Mayo Country Star Gerry Cutherie was the main act on Saturday night and Sunday saw the Mock Wedding. Mock Wedding: A wonderful cast of up on forty people performed the Mock Wedding  at the GAA Grounds on Sunday afternoon.  The Bride and Grrom Fiona Gallagher and John McNelis were wonderfully cast in their roles and all the cast put on a class show.  After the hillarious scenes at the Clubhouse, the bride and groom went by horse and carriage followed by the bridesmaids in Vintage Cars to the reception at the Nesbitt Arms Hotel.  The popular Bestmen braved the elements and were transported to the reception by tractor and link box having earlier in the day arrived to  the wedding on donkeys. Great characters.  The reception was a great occasion with a wonderful meal presented  by the Hotel with desserts compliments of Shielas Cafe.  A great number of excellent speakers were delivered by various guests but the star of the night was the bride Alice.  One could hear a pin drop as she captivated the large crowd with a truely wonderful speech.  Well done Fiona, we are proud of you.  As the crowd danced to the great sounds of Kerrigan another wonderful event come to a close in Ardara.  This was a fundraiser for the Christmas lights.  Anyone who wishes to make a contribution can do so by contacting any committee member.St Vincent De Paul: Some of you may have noticed a lady standing outside of Divers on Friday last, even though it was a cold chilly day, she stood all day to gather funds for the local St Vincent de Paul Society.  Well over €1000 was collected on the day.  Thanks to Bart Whelan for his great efforts for this worthy cause and all who conrtributed.Switching on of Christmas Lights: The Christmas Lights switch on and the Childrens Christmas Party will be on Sunday 6th December.  More details to follow:Christmas Shoebox Appeal: Anyone wishing to take part in this worthwhile charity of filling a shoebox for children in poverty stricken countries can pick up a leaflet with all the information on it in the local shops.
