Friday June 1st 2018

7pm to 8pm – Heritage Centre
Opening of the Festival by Gallagher’s Bakery and enjoy the great music of the Kevin O’Donnell School of Music.

7.30pm – Nancy’s Bar
Opening of Photography and Digital Imagery Exhibition by Chris Patterson. Exhibition runs until 10th June.


9pm – Beehive Bar

A Massive Musical Event to open the Summer Lights Festival with the world famous Tim Edey and Gerry O’Connor, banjo player with the Dubliners and “Four Men and a Dog”. Also Gino Lupari, singer and bodhran player, who is also a member of “Four Men and a Dog”. This is an amazing musical introduction to this special weekend.
Tickets €12 available from the Beehive Bar.

10pm – Nancy’s
Music with The Ropey Brothers

10pm – Various Venues
Live Music in various venues around town. See posters on the day.

 


Saturday June 2nd 2018 – A Bread Themed Day

in the Heritage Centre including Breads of the World posters, Gallagher’s Bakery memorabilia, and more.

Bread and Beer Pub Trail
sponsored by Kinnegar Craft Beers and the Slieve League Distillery.
Starting at midday Saturday June 2nd at the Ceili House and ending at the Beehive at 7.40pm.
40 minutes at each pub. Enjoy a sip of beer compliments of Kinnegar Craft Beer and a slice of bread from a special recipe baked by each pub. Trail timetable (right – click to enlarge) will also be available at the Heritage Centre.

All Day
All day Busking Competition
at various locations.
Three locations for Buskers are allocated as part of the Summer Lights Festival. There is a prize for the winner so come along from 11.00am Saturday and Sunday and enjoy the fun of busking in Ardara.

1pm – Methodist Hall
Mrs. Mash, The Storytelling Cook and author of Cake for the Fairies, puts on a wonderful show for kids at the Methodist Hall (map). Truly a show not to be missed!

2pm to 4pm – Woodhill House
Gin and bread-tasting afternoon. John and his staff at Woodhill House invite everyone for a complimentary sip of gin and slice of homemade bread. There will be live music on the lawn and a free bus service from the Diamond from 2pm to 4pm. (map)

3pm – Heritage Centre
The final of the Breadmaking Competition sponsored by Sheila Sweeney. All are welcome to enter and enjoy a slice of bread afterwards. Anyone entering should have their entry in the Heritage Centre by midday Saturday 2nd June for viewing and inspection by judges at 3pm.

4.30pm – The Diamond
The ever popular Brass Band perform live on the diamond!

5pm – Heritage Centre (upstairs)
Kids Film (supervised). “Captain Underpants” (1h 29 min).
Two mischievous kids hypnotize their mean high school principal and turn him into their comic book creation, the kind hearted and elastic band ‘Captain Underpants’.

5pm to 7pm – Nancy’s Bar
The Barbecue at Nancy’s! Relax with good food, enjoy the tender tones of Sarah & Mark

8pm – Beehive Bar
Join Breezy for an evening of Bread, Scones, Stories and Songs.
Her guests will include Muhammad Al-Hussaini, renowned sean-nós singer and peace activist, and Kenny Speirs, Scottish folk singer.
Marie Louise Cochrane, storyteller and singer, will also be joining in the fun.
 

8pm – Heritage Centre (upstairs)
Adults Film.Going Clear.. And The Prison of Belief”. (1h 59 min).
Film maker Alex Gibney interviews former members of The Church of Scientology and reveals abuses and strange practices within the controversial organisation…

Sunday June 3rd 2018

All Day
Busking at various locations. Three locations for Buskers are allocated as part of the Summer Lights Festival. There is a prize for the winner so come along from 11.00am Saturday and Sunday and enjoy the fun of busking in Ardara!

3pm – The Diamond
Open air performance by The Bluestacks Jam Club. All musicians welcome to come along and join in.

5pm – The Heritage Centre (upstairs)
Kids Film. “The Boss Baby“. (1h 37 min).
A suit wearing, briefcase carrying baby pairs up with his 7 year old brother to stop the dastardly plot of the CEO of Puppy Co…

5pm to 7pm – Nancy’s Bar
The Big Barbecue at Nancy’s. Relax and enjoy the best of food and hear Declan McCafferty of the band “In Their Thousands” perform.

8pm – The Heritage Centre (upstairs)
Adults Film. “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri”. (1h 55min).
A mother personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter’s murder when they fail to catch the culprit.
