The Dead

We pray for Patricia Cunningham, Killystewart whose funeral took place on Monday.

Also for Hugh Francis and Maggie Maloney and for Tom and Nan Concarr, whose anniversaries occur.

May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Lent

We are asked to make a special effort to make the Fridays of Lent special days of penance.

The following are some suggestions:

Abstaining from meat or some other food.

Abstaining from alcoholic drink or smoking.

Making a special effort at involvement in family prayer.

Making a special effort at participating in Mass, especially on Friday.

Visiting the Blessed Sacrament Exposed in the Oratory.

Making the Stations of the Cross.

Fasting from all food for a longer period than usual and perhaps giving what is spared to Trocaire or the St. Vincent De Paul Society in the form of a donation.

Helping the poor, the sick, the old and the lonely.
