Synodality in the Church

You probably have heard of Pope Francis’ plan for synodality, the involvement of people of God in the future development of the Catholic Church in the 21st and succeeding centuries.

The Bishops of Ireland have taken the first steps to make that plan a reality, and that is especially necessary as the number of priests is decreasing and so is the number of practising Catholics.

Our Bishop is engaged at the moment in a pastoral plan – “Ar Aghaidh le Cheile – Forward Together” – and it is suggested that the initial step should be the setting up of a Parish Pastoral Council in every parish in the Diocese.

With that in mind for our own parish in the next few weeks we will be inviting people to join us in getting that first step off the ground.

We will be hoping for a generous response.

The Dead

Mary Mooney, Brackey, whose funeral took place on Thursday.

Anniversaries of: Charlie Bennett; Arthur Fleury; Donal, Brigid and Kathleen Byrne; But Waddock; James Daniel Gallagher.

And we also pray for Patricia Cunningham whose Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated next Saturday evening.

May they rest in God’s peace for all eternity.
