Some Kayaking delights within the parish

One of Ardara’s 7 Wonders!

A large group of Kayaking enthusiast’s had the recent pleasure to paddle off our shore and explore the many geological wonders, that are within our wee Parish. On a beautiful sunny Sunday, 17 people in various craft and varying aptitudes, set out from Loughros to explore underneath Slievatooey.Under the experienced guidance of Paul McCrossan, we set across the bay, with an ebbing tide, and very little swell. We spent an hour or so exploring the many caves, sea arches, waterfalls and sea stacks, that are literally on our doorstep, and frankly, it was breathtaking. The term ‘Awesome’ is an often over utilised word these days, but truly this is one of those apt occasions.Attached are a few short video’s of the sights (and please forgive the ‘little pinky’ in the corner of some of the shots)! This is not for the faint hearted, and I would advise that any trip to see this, should be accompanied by an experienced guide, with all the usual precautions observed. If you do, this is a most worthwhile adventure. If you’re interested in joining the Kayak club as part of the Rosbeg Portnoo Sailing & Watersports club, you can download the membership form here too. Membership ranges from €50 to €150 depending on your preference.  Caves 1 low resCaves 5 low resThe Grotto low resBlank Membership Form
