Brid Meehan

Brid Meehan was a lovely lady to all who knew her, and her death after a long and difficult sickness was greeted with much sadness in her homeland of Sandfield and surrounding areas. Born and bred in Sandifeld, she will be missed by her family and friends to whom we offer the sympathy of the community.

Charlie Gallagher

Charlie Gallagher died in the early hours of Wednesday morning and his death was sudden. As Father Moore said in his sermon, we just never know when we will be called, and this was certainly the case for Charlie. Of a quiet disposition, Charlie worked in Killybegs Seafoods for twenty years, and his esteem there was reflected in the large number of workers and ex workers who attended his wake. Charlie was a huge fan of traditional music and never missed a Fleadh. He was very versed in the music and was on a friendly basis with the best traditional musicians in the land. Charlie was a great walker and his neighbours and friends will miss his almost daily walks along the Common and Brackey road. At 59, too young to die. Sympathy of the community to his family and friends.

Frank Sweeney

Saturday morning the sad news of the death of Frank Sweeney was released. Sadly Carrickacleave has had another death this year. Frank Sweeney was a true gentleman, of a very kind and gentle nature, his lovely kind smile will be remembered by all who knew him. In recent times he was deteriorating in health, but got wonderful care from family and friends and neighbours. A truly lovely man left our parish on Saturday morning with the death of Frank. Sympathy of the community to his family and friends.
