One of Ardara’s most popular characters passed away on Friday evening 13th January, when the news was announced that James Whoriskey of Meetinadea had died just days after his former neighbour in Meentinadea John Gallagher had also passed away.James came from a big family of the late Charley and Margaret Whoriskey. James loved life when he had good health but sadly his latter days were not kind to him. He had a wonderful charm and his laugh was infectious and he loved the old stories of long ago. The kids whom he ferried to school loved him and really appreciated his kindness to them.In later years James moved closer to town when the family moved to Monargan. James was everyone’s friend and we will all miss him. The sympathy of the community to his family and friends.
