Cup of Tae Festival an Outstanding Success

This year’s “Cup of Tae” Festival was an outstanding success with huge crowds enjoying lots of great music and the hospitality of the Ardara people.

The Opening Concert in honour of Dermot Byrne was a wonderful occasion with Dermot leading the list of outstanding musicians including the world famous Steve Cooney on guitar and the equally famous Brid Harper on fiddle and introducing an outstanding fiddler to Ardara in Yvonne Casey. This was a feast of great music from the elite of traditional music and was enjoyed by all.

The Schools of Music on Saturday with Master Tutor Dermot Byrne and Brid Harper was very well subscribed, with the wonderful Michael O’Rourke and Donna Harkin adding so much to this great School of Music.

The Recitals in the Heritage Centre on the Saturday and Sunday at lunchtime with Johnny Conan, Sean Sweeney and Caithriona Lagan was another special event.

The Campbell Appreciation Evening in the Beehive was a wonderful session of music and so appropriate to honour the great men in a way we all know Jimmy and Vincent would appreciate.

The Finale Concert on Sunday night was another great event with some terrific performers. All weekend the town heard the best of traditional music. All left Ardara very satisfied that this was a wonderful year for the “Cup of Tae” festival.
