The Ardara Walking Festival takes place St. Patrick’s Weekend Friday 15th March – Monday 18th March 2019. There are excellent hill walks on offer and there’s great interest in this year’s walking routes.Registration: Friday 15th March 6pm-9pm in the Heritage Centre. Facebook users can let the organisers know if they’ll be attending registration on the Hillwalking Registration Event page.Walks take place Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March, and this year’s highlights include the spectacular Sliabh Liag, One Man’s Pass, Paradise Beach, Granny Glen, and Maghera.Visit the Walking Festival page for more information or phone Kevin on 087-6734875. St. Patrick’s Parade

The St. Patrick’s Parade takes place on Monday 18th March. A very special person who has made an amazing contribution to the Ardara Community leads this year’s Parade.Calling for Floats: We have quite a number of bands coming and we now need floats so we are asking the people of the community and businesses to assist. “Note and Stave” Keyboard Lessons

Note & Stave keyboard lessonsBeginner level keyboard lessons. Learn to play solo and with a group. Learn to read and sight-read music classically.Classes start in April and places will be in demand.Students will learn the basics, from reading music to sight reading and understanding music theory and performance. CLG Ard an Ratha 5K

The GAA have a 5K on St. Patrick’s Day at 1pm. Registration from 12 noon in the Clubhouse and everyone welcome. Membership is now due for the coming year and can be bought in Diver’s.  

Zumba Fitness

New 5 week course starting Tuesday 5th March in the Heritage Centre at 7pm.Course costs €35 or pay €10 as you go. All welcome. Contact Bridget 087-9130558

Basket Weaving

Basket Weaving ClassesA two-day Basket Weaving Workshop with Eugene Byrne takes place on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd March 2019 from 10am to 4pm in the Heritage Centre.The fee is €40 and materials will be supplied. Pottery Workshop

Eimear Boyle artworkLocal artist Eimear Boyle will host a two-day Pottery Workshop in the Heritage Centre in the coming weeks.Anyone interested should contact Colm on 087-3222910 so that dates can be finalised. 

Art Classes

Mixed media art classes continue every Friday from 7pm to 9pm upstairs in the Heritage Centre.There are still a couple of places available and anyone wishing to enrol can phone Colm on 087-3222910.
  

Youth Worker Vacancy – CE Position

Comedy Play in Leitir Hall

The Island WakeComedy play “The Island Wake” written by Fergus Cleary will be staged in Leitir Hall on Tuesday 19th March at 8.00pm.The Island Wake is a hilarious comedy, recalling an island paradise free from traffic and such dangers. Many humorous stories and sayings from the Island folk are deftly woven into the nostalgic tale of Island life and wit.Fundraising for St. Brigid’s Hall and Church of Ireland, Leitir.Doors open from 7.30pm. Admission €10 at the door.

The sympathy of the community this week goes to the Kennedy Family, Ard Conal on the death of Packie, To Ann McGhee on the death of her mother Teresa Cunningham in Glenties.
