The Matchmaking Festival

The Matchmaking Festival takes place this weekend with events in various venues.

There’s a big night Friday night with popular singing star Aoife McDonagh performing in the ballroom followed by the ever popular David James.Saturday features all day matchmaking events throughout the town and a big dance in the Hotel with Jim Devine.Sunday will see music sessions in various locations.This is always a great weekend and everyone is welcome.See the Matchmaking Festival page for programme of events. 

Lovin’ the Dunes

Mickalene’s Gastro Pub of the Year

Big Congratulations to Michael, Charlene and all the gang in Mickalene’s Bar on their wonderful achievement winning the Ulster Gastro Pub of the Year and the overall title of Ireland’s Gastro pub of the year 2019.Well done on a wonderful Ardara success story! 

The Island Wake

Fergus Cleary’s “The Island Wake” is coming to Ardara on Tuesday next 12th November in the Heritage Centre at 8pm.This is a captivating and imaginative comedy based on Island life, its personalities and circumstances.Proceeds in aid of St. Mary’s NS Ardara and the Charlie Bennett Memorial Fund. Admission is €10.00 

The Green Gate Pop-up Restaurant

Menu – Friday 8th Nov.On Arrival Shots, Cocktails, Mocktails, Sourdough Fries and Houmus DipStarters Spiced Pumpkin and Chorizo Soup (with/without Chorizo) and crispy onions. Filled Parmesan Tartlets with Greens. Both Served With Homemade Bread.Main Course Braised Beef Cobbler and Dumplings.  Bean and Lentil Nut Roast with Tomato Sauce. Both Served With Autumn Salad, Red Cabbage and Potato Salad Desserts Carob, Coconut and Berry Trifle. Green Gate Apple and Blackberry Fool. Both served with Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. Remembrance Day Service

The names of all those from Ardara, Glenties and surrounding parishes who died during World War One and the Second World War, will be recorded during a Remembrance Day Service at St. Conal’s Church, Ardara, on Sunday next. The service begins at 10.15am and all are welcome. 

Church of Ireland Dinner Dance

The long running Church of Ireland dinner dance takes place on Friday November 29th in the Nesbitt Arms Hotel.First held in the 1980’s, the popular pre-Christmas event gains support from a wide area. Music this year comes from Last Chance, Seamus and Tony Ryan, and the evening will include a host of special prizes. Tickets remain the same price as in previous years, just €25, and are available from church members 

Ardara Christmas Craft Fair 2019

This year’s Christmas Craft Fair will take place in the Nesbitt Arms Hotel on Saturday 23rd November 2019.Come and join over 30 festive stalls under one roof. The range is dazzling – everything from home-baking to hand-made jewellery, Christmas decorations to hand weaving products, chocolates to painted pots and glass, natural beauty & cosmetic products, flower settings, candles, jams and wood crafts.Come along and support all our local crafters. Entrance is free, and you can pick up a glass of alcohol free mulled juice or mulled wine at the door. Narin Beach Parkrun/walk

ParkrunNarin Beach Parkrun/walk takes place on Narin Beach every Saturday morning at 9.30am.All ages and all abilities. Runners and walkers welcome.Free weekly timed event – one of only 6 beach parkrun/walks in the world.
