Country & Western Weekend
A weekend of country and western music will take place in Ardara from February 3rd to 6th.
The weekend will feature top country stars, as well as lots of jiving and line dancing, with entertainment in all the pubs.
Office Skills Course
Donegal ETB Further Education and Training Services is inviting applicants from Ardara area to take part in its ICDL Digital Office Skills part time course in Donegal Town which will run from January 30th to May 30th.
Many jobs now entail the use of technology. Attaining the ICDL certification shows that you have the ability to use digital devices and tools confidently and productively and are able to compete in today’s competitive work environment.
The ICDL modules included are – Spreadsheets, Documents, Computer and Online Essentials. The course runs on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9.30am to 2pm. To apply or for further information, please contact Siobhan Coughlan on 074-9725520 or email siobhancoughlan@donegaletb.ie
The course is part time and free of charge to any adult who has less than upper second level education / who has a social welfare payment / who has a medical card.
Courses are accredited by ICDL Ireland and do not affect existing social welfare entitlements. BTEI is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.
Rescheduled GAP AGM
Donegal GAP Heritage and History Group AGM takes place on Sunday, January 8th at 12 noon in the Parish Centre (beside Church of the Holy Family), Ardara F94 VX98.

Wedding Bells
Congratulations to Eamonn Breslin and his wife Shannon who were married in Mullingar at the weekend. Best wishes for a long and happy life together.
Late Mary Catherine Breslin
Sympathy is extended to the family of Mary Catherine Breslin, Cronkeerin, Ardara, who died at her home on Wednesday last, surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her husband Packie, her son Paul and her brothers Packie and Danny, she is sadly missed by her loving children Gabriel (Croagh), Gearad, Laurence, Cathal, Donal, Rose Byrne (Ardara), Ann Slevin (Ballyshannon), daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, her 16 adoring grandchildren, her sister Bridgie O’Gara (Glencolmcille), Rose Boyle (Bruckless), her brother Charlie, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, her nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbours and many many friends.
Funeral Mass took place on Friday morning at the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers if so desired to the Alzheimers Society, c/o any family member.
Late Philip Gallagher
The peaceful death has occurred of Philip Gallagher, Drumaghy Park and formerly of Common, Ardara.
He is sadly missed by his sisters Ann, Grainne, Margaret, Bridget, Kathy, Teresa and brothers James, John and Mark, his nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Predeceased by his father Patrick, his mother Bridie and brothers Charlie, Paul and Eugene.
Funeral Mass took place on Saturday afternoon at the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara. Private cremation at Lakelands Crematorium to follow at a later date.
Late Bosco McGill
Sympathy is extended to the family of Bosco McGill of Dublin and Ardara, who died peacefully surrounded by his loving family and in the care of Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross on Friday.
Predeceased by his wife Margaret, he will be greatly missed by his children Andrea, Karl and Ruth, his grandchildren Charlie, Sophia, Juliette and Adam, his siblings Mary, Phyll, Bernadette and Gerard, son-in-law Eoghain Murphy, Ruth’s partner Vincent Roche, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and all his extended family and friends.
Funeral Mass took place at the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara, on Tuesday at 1pm followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers if so desired to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Irish Hospice Foundation.
