Ardara news, Jan. 16th
Ardara recently experienced the death of prominent members of our community. Just before Christmas Don Breslin of the Narin Road passed away after a recent illness. Don was a very important and well liked member of our community. He was a qualified teacher but instead he took over as senior barman at Nancys Famous Pub on the front street, and served there for 37 years. Don was synonymous with Nancys and was loved by all who visited there. This was evident in the huge number of sympathies that were recorded from all over the world on his death. Don had a great sense of history, he loved to travel, and enjoyed discussing both in great detail, with friends and visitors alike. Those us who had the priviledge to play football with or against him have beautiful memories of both a class footballer and a hilarious character when things were not going well. On the pitch I can still see that instant glare before the attack. We all loved Don and he will be sadly missed, and a very important member of our community is gone. Months mind mass Sunday 17 January at 9am. This a fantastic achievement for this wonderfully talented but shy young lady. Niamh has had to compete her way through six auditions against hundreds of thousands of other talented musicians to get to the live stage. Whatever happens tonight, everyone in Ardara is so proud of Niamh. Niamh works in the Corner House and if you’re lucky, you might hear her sing the odd song there. Well done Niamh, we all know how talented you are.
