Doon Fort Awarded Funding from The Heritage Council

Doon Fort awarded grant aid

The Heritage Council and the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys have announced funding for 196 heritage projects across Ireland under its 2017 Community Heritage Grants Scheme.
The Ardara GAP Heritage and History Group have been granted €5,000 to carry out a geophysical, photogrammetry and topographical survey at Doon Fort as part of its project plans ‘to conduct a complete survey at Doon Fort as a vital first step in the conservation & development of the archaeological site, as a heritage & tourist attraction for Donegal and along the WAW’.

The group are actively working with Dedalus Architecture and Josie McHugh, the landowner, to make sure that this Heritage Council’s ‘Adopted Monument’ will be given the best care possible.

Further information about the project can be found on the Friends of Doon Fort Facebook page
