St Shanaghan House

The Day Centre at St Shanaghan House is now open on Monday and Tuesday for lunch and various activities. Transport is provided for the thirty or thirty five friends to get together between 12 midday and four o clock. It is a wonderful social occasion, a reason to get out and catch up on all the local news.A four course lunch is provided thanks to Angela and her staff, some of whom are voluntary workers who generously give their time each week. Tea and scones are available on arrival and also at 3pm and lots of home made bread and cakes. Every birthday is celebrated and a donation box each day helps to make a generous donation to Solace Cancer Centre and other deserving causes.Bingo and Cards are popular as well as various Crafts, Computer and Art Classes. Throughout the year people from all the surrounding centres come to visit and after a great lunch there with music and dancing and enjoyment for all. Visits are made in return to Glenties, Downstrands, Killybegs, Carrick, Fintown, Newtowncunningham and Leitirmacaward.For many these social days help to ease the lonliness. Shower facilities and chiropody are available also. We rely heavily on fund raising and are very grateful for the generosity of everybody in the community.The Centre is open to anyone who would like to drop in just for lunch and the residents in the Apartments join us whenever they wish.We make the most of these days with friends and we will leave tomorrow to God and Enda.
