One Day Retreat to Lough Derg:  There will be a one day retreat to Lough Derg on next Sunday 6th September. To book a place or for further information, please contact Laura McGinley at 087 6362590.BBQ in the Corner House:  Thanks to everyone who supported the BBQ in the Corner House on Sunday last in aid of Cancer Care West, Ardara and Down Strands Resource Centre.  To all the Bands and everyone, a huge thank you.Loughros Point Rowing Club: Loughros Point Rowing Club traveled all the way to Waterville, in Kerry in August, to the All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships with 15 junior rowers, 8 adult rowers and 2 parents as mentors for the juniors.  Two of theirboats were hauled down for the event, the Donegal skiff and the One Design Celtic Yawl, this is the first time ever that the Donegal Skiff was introduced in the All Irelands and our senior men rowed it on Friday evening with Conor Maquet coxing to take 2ndplace, this event was a Open Classic Men’s 2,300 metres with a multiturn (3 turns). Our men also made the final in the junior Men on Sunday coming 9th out of 12.  We also had 3 youth teams down with us U18 boys U18 girls and U16 boys, which all rowed extremely well but with such massive competition in the youth this year they unfortunately did not make the finals. The Club would like to thank all the parents for supporting the club and a massive thanks to the mentors for the weekend Siobhan Molloy and Caroline Whyte, their help was greatly appreciated by all the youth andcommittee.  Next year is going to be a big year for the club with the All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships coming to Co. Donegal, being hosted by Donegal Bay Rowing Club.  Loughros point rowing club are always welcoming new members to join, any queries contact us through Facebook.Downstrands Family Resource Centre: Autumn activities will be starting in September. It is hope to run the following new courses if we get enough numbers.  What’s Cookin’, Power of Positive Thinking, Mindfulness, Mosaics, Archaeology, Art Classes.  Continuing Activities:  Ramblers Walking Group, Computers and Knit & Crochet in Glenties.  Kids Activities: Badminton, Guitar Lessons, Basketball and Judo.  There are spaces for new members in these activities.  Babies and Toddlers: There is the ongoing Mother & Toddler Groups in Portnoo and Glenties, Baby Massage, Bumps & Beyond, Messy Play and Tine Tunes. Further details of all the above activities are available in leaflets which will be distributed in the local businesses or Contact the FRC on 074 9545879.Snooker Success: Congratulation to Ronan Whyte, Cloughboy, who is making great strides in the Snooker world having been selected for Ireland U16 Team recently.  The team competed in the European Internationals in Leeds recently and Ronan won all his matches and together with the team finished in second place.  He continues to make great strides and the community wish him all the best.  Ronan is the son of Gerry and Evylene Whyte.Sympathy:  The sympathy of the Community goes to: the Gough Family, Laconnell, on the death of Darren whos funeral took place in Ardara on Monday last.  To Teresa Breslin, Ard Conal, on the death of her Sister, Bridget McGroarty, whos funeral took place in Ardara on Friday last.
