Going Pink
St. Shanaghan House in Ardara is going pink for Breast Cancer Awareness.
The public right of way through St. Shanaghan House Sheltered Housing complex is used by many people as both a shortcut into town and as part of a wider circular walking route.
From this Saturday on it is going to fulfil another function.
“Given the critical importance of self-examination and early contact with your GP if anything feels or looks different, we have decided to paint the four benches through the grounds of St. Shanaghan House a bright pink,” a spokesperson said.
“It is hoped that this stand-out colour synonymous with Breast Cancer Awareness will act as a prompt for those walking through to think about the importance of self-awareness and follow up action.”
Development
A proposal to develop a €4 million unit adjacent to St. Shanaghan House is being planned by the Ardara Sheltered Housing Association CLG.
This will provide approximately 18 apartments with carers employed to provide care 24 hours per day and if everything goes to plan, approximately 20 to 25 care jobs should be created.
Teague McFadden, the residential services manager said “This will not be a nursing unit but will provide for people who have very high care needs beyond that which home help would normally provide.”

L2863 Ardara – Ardaghey Road (Inver) – Road Blocked Friday 17th June due to Essential Road Works
Donegal County Council wishes to advise that due to essential road works, the L2863 Ardara – Ardaghey Road (Inver) will be blocked from 6:00am to 3.00pm on Friday 17th June. The exact location of the road blockage is at Meentindea / Cronkerrin.
The Diversion route will be via the N56 from/to Inver to/from Ardara.
Donegal County Council apologises for any inconvenience which this may cause.
