The Parish says Goodbye to Two of our Oldest Ladies this Week

The Parish says goodbye to two of our oldest ladies this weekRose ConnollyRose Connolly of Beagh was buried on Friday this week. Rose was a true lady to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. In good health throughout her life until the last few weeks of her 94 year life, Rose was a cleaner and a great one at that and worked for many families in the parish at different times. A great walker, few would keep up with her as she made that trip to the town from her home in Beagh. She was always so kind and caring and genuinely interested in the wellbeing of all she knew. She was a devout churchgoer and Canon Laverty put it very well when he told us at her funeral mass that she probably had prayed more than the whole of us all put together. We extend the sympathy of the community to Mary Rose and all her family and friends.

May Kearney

May Kearney was buried on Saturday after 11 o’clock requiem mass in the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara. Originally from Donegal town, May lived for years in Belfast, coming to live in Ardara with her husband Gerry in the eighties and sadly Gerry died in 1992. May just loved dancing, particularly ceilli and two hand dancing but in the later years took a great fancy to country music and her idol Robert Mizzel, whom she made a point of meeting and dancing to when she had her health. In her final years, she was cared for very well by friends and neighbours to which we extend the sympathy of the community.
