Death of a Gentleman                                                                                                                                                                        John Glynn would be so proud ,l can see him sitting quietly in a corner grinning to himself at all the lovely accolades being said about him today .Though he never craved for this he made a lasting impression on all who knew him .He made many friends in Ardara since he bought the house up in Ardlougher, he loved conversation and debate and had strong opinions on many things,a lifelong genuine Labour supporter he sadly never had the chance this time to discuss the demise of the party which Im sure he would have had a view.It was such a pleasure to discuss life for John as a child ,while many dwell on the negatives John was always so positive.John and his late wife first came to the Kelvon House as visitors to the area many years ago ,they became dear friends of Yvonne and the Kelly family and also around that met Johnny D and he was a close friend of Johnny and Gretta to the end and they were there at the end.John loved gardening and the outdoor and was so helpful to all in developing their gardens, he took great pride in the flowers and plants in the diamond and in his health spent much time there.He was great with the youth and helped many a transition student appreciate gardening and l know Lars will be sad today .John loved his chosen career in An Post and loved having his now retired workmates to Ardara and it was appropiate and great that Dave Moran and few other ex workers from An Post made it to Sligo Hospital before he died                John will be waked in his home from 6pm this evening Saturday and will be buried in Greystones on Monday, we offer the sympathy of the community to his family and close friendsBart on Conal                                                                                                                                                                                     Bart Whelan radio show on Ownea FM today at 1pm and later repeated at 7pm will be chatting about and discussing the late great Conal HaugheyFarewell to a Canon                                                                                                                                                                          Friday night May 20 in the hotel we have a special function for Canon Deane and his wife Heather who will be retiring shortly.Canon Deane has done huge work in this community and helped so many community groups and a large crowd is expected in the hotel for this special event .Format for the evening; Doors open at 9 pm and donations at the door are voluntary,from 9 to 10 pm light refreshments will be served and at 1030pm Shaun Mc Monagle will take the stage ,later mc Bart Whelan will introduce the various presentations
