Congratulations Gallaghers Bakery:  Congratulation to Declan and all in the Gallaghers Bakery on receiving two Awards in the last few weeks.  They were victorious in the Export and Entrepreneurship categories at the Bord Bia Food & Drink Awards for their Purebred and Promise Gluten Free brands.Ardara Care of the Aged:  A Mass and Special Blessing for the sick will take place at St Shanaghan House Day Centre on Tuesday 15th December, 2015, at 12 noon. And everyone is welcome.  This will be then followed by the annual Christmas Party.Ardara Community Development Ltd: A new Community Employment Scheme will be starting February 2016.  There are positions for General Workers and an Office/Tourist Information Assistant.  This is a developmental opportunity, no experience is necessary. (FAS/SOLAS) If you wish to be considered for this scheme you must put your name forward to Ardara Community Development, West End, Ardara as your application must be processed by local DSP officer.  CE office Tel no 074 95 37373 10am to 12pm Mon-Fri or 086 6068751 9am to 5pm Mon-Fri.  Online Jobsireland.ie.Ardara Shopping Spree:   The Ardara Shopping Spree takes place from Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th December.   Ardara has many events throughout the year for people to come and visit and this year is no exception  with all businesses and shops putting in a special effort to make this a great shopping spree and to add to the ocassion there are many events coinciding with the Spree to make this one to remember:   These include: new business opening,  re launch of Ardara.ie, the launch of the new community magazine Duchas,  top country star Jim Devine comes to town, Sile will do free afternoon teas on Sunday with donations to the Lights,  Childrens party and disco on Sunday at 3pm and Santa arrives on Sunday at 3.30pm to the childrens party, Glenties Brass Band along with Imelda Heena and the Choir will do carols on the diamond from 5.30pm Sunday,  the Ardara Ladies Championship Team along with the Ardara Cailin Deas will switch on the Christmas Lights. This year shops in town are all going out on a limb to make the shopping spree one of the best ever.  While many people are lured away to the big shopping centres, people in our community have always been good supporting our own local shops and the businesses know this and that is why all shops are making a special effort this year, just look at the personal adverts.   This year we are proud to welcome a new business to the town. Cathy Mc Nulty has just opened her lovely new shop Gifted at the Maloney Service Complex on the Killybegs Road.  Cathy no stranger to the world of beautiful gifts, jewellery and those special gifts is glad to be opening in Ardara and will bring her excellent customer skills and care to her new shop having worked in a similiar business in Killybegs.This Friday December 4th  is very much a red letter day in the community of Ardara with the relaunch of Ardara .ie at 7.30pm.  All are most welcome to this special event.  A small active committee have for many months been working on this website and as this is so important to Ardara both commercially and in keeping in contact with the diaspora the committee will be on hand at the launch. Also just after this launch another committee who have put in huge work in getting a wonderful new magazine called Duchas ready and published for launch also this evening.  Everyone is so welcome and come around 7pm to avail of a compliamentry evening of finger food and wine compliements of the committee.Later on Friday night Top Country Star Jim Devine will perform at the hotel.  Jim is very popular in Ardara and to compliement the weekend the hotel is offering unbelievable overnight deals for the event. Sunday December 6th  is another special day in Ardara as the childrens party and disco starts in the hotel as 3pm and then Santa will arrive to join the kids in this wonderful new grotto specially built for the occasion by the good people at the hotel.  All children from all areas are most welcome to Ardara to meet Santa. Then at 5.30pm all move to the Diamond to join the wonderful Glenties Brass Band and Imelda and the local choir as they perform some Christmas Carols.  Please come and support them.  At 6pm the Ardara Ladies Team and the Ardara Cailin Deas will switch on the light for 2015.A  very special thanks to Shane Mulraney and his team for putting up our lovely lights this year.Congratulations:  Congratulation to Teresa Keeney, Crumlin who was presented with an Appreciation Award at the  Donegal Coastal Rowing Association Dinner Dance which was held in the Abbey Hotel recently.  Teresa is a member of the Loughross Point Rowing Club.Coffee Morning & Cake Sale:  A Coffee Morning & Cake Sale will take place in Teagues Bar this Friday morning 4th December at 10.00 am.  All are welcome.Radio station gains new 100-day licence: Donegal Sounds Ltd, the parent company of OweneaFM, the Ardara based community radio station, has secured its third 100-day licence contract with the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. The current licence ends on Sunday, November 29th, and the new one will begin on Saturday December 12th.     The station’s frequency remains at 100.8 and the online link is donegalsounds.com Station Manager, Pauric Gallagher, said: “We would like to thank everyone involved with the station,  our sponsors and listeners for making it so successful”.Ardara Care of the Aged:  A Mass and Special Blessing for the sick will take place at St Shanaghan House Day Centre on next Tuesday 15th December, 2015.Congratulations:  Congratulations to Declan Gallagher, Crumlin and Ryan Moore, Portnoo on their great success this year in Car Rallying.    They recently received the National 2WD Championship Award at the Triton Showers National Rally prizegiveing recently.Duchas on Sale:  After a busy couple of weeks and a wonderful amount of work by a small committee we are pleased to announce that Duchas the new community magazine will be on sale in all shops in the area of Donegal, Killybegs, Ardara, Glenties and Portnoo from this Saturday 6th December in plenty of time to send to loved ones abroad.  Also, it is planned to have the magazine on sale by e-book shortly.Christmas Craft Fair:  There will be a Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday 6th December in Shielas Restaurant in the Heritage Centre from 2 to 6 pm.  New and used goods will be on sale.  If you wish to book a table it will be €10 per table and you may contact Shiela on 087 086 4054616.    There will be free mulled wine, tea, coffee and food and Shiela would like to see you all for your free treatfor Christmas.Congratulations:  Congratulations ro Gerard O’Donnell, who won the overall Leitrim Sports Star of the Year Award and the Senior Individual  Leitrim Sports Star of the Year Awards at the Leitrim Sports Star Awards held in Lough Rynn Castle last weekend.  Gerard is the son of  Mary (nee Gildea, Crumlin) O’Donnell and the late Peter O’Donnell, Laconnell and his sister Clare O’Donnell is living in Portnoo as well as his many other relations in Ardara.Thank you Shiela:  As part of the fundraising for the Christmas Lights, Shielas Coffee and Creams is doing free Afternoon Teas this Sunday prior to the switching on of the lights.  All donations to the Christmas Lights Fund instead of payment.CLG Ard an Rátha scoop Major Award:  On Saturday night last four Officers from the Club were on hand at the Slieve Donard Hotel, in Co Donegal, to attend the Ulster Presidents Awards night.  They were there as Donegal Grounds winners for 2015.  On the night the top three were announced and the Ardara GAA Club were announced as the overall Grounds in Ulster.  This is a major Award.  Dont think this was ever won by a Donegal Club before before.  Congratulations ot everyone involved for all the tremendous effort to  secure this special Award.Community Invite:  Everyone in the Community is invited  to a special launch in the Hotel this Friday 4th Dec starting at around 7pm.  Complimentary Food and Wine served prior to the launch at 7.30pm of Ardara.ie and the new Magazine “Duchas”
